will my support go toward?
In
addition to your member benefits, Civil War 150
Council members will guarantee an exciting and
informative educational experience for people throughout
the United States, including:
- Museum
Exhibition: A major statewide exhibition
entitled "America’s Great Turning
Point: The Civil War in Virginia" will
offer a balanced depiction of Virginia’s participation
in the war, and include stories from the homefront
and battlefront.
- CW
150 HistoryMobile: A high-tech interactive
mobile museum that will travel to throughout Virginia
and beyond, bringing history directly to the people.
- Educational
DVD: A three-hour educational film produced
by the Center for Civil War Studies at Virginia
Tech that will be distributed free of charge to
every school, library and museum in Virginia.
- The
Legacy Project: Document Digitization and Access:
A major initiative focused on preserving documentary
heritage by identifying Civil War-era materials
currently in private hands, scanning and cataloging
them, and making them available via the web for
research for years to come.
- Signature
Conferences and Law School Symposia:
A regular series of conferences, held in cooperation
with private and public institutions of higher education,
addressing broad political, military, social, economic
and constitutional topics related to the Civil War.
- Sesquicentennial
Internet Battlefield Tours: Rare and personalized
'Vodcast' tours of significant battlefields in Virginia
by top-notch historians made available to the world
through the Internet.
- Civil
War Heritage Tourism: Coordination and
marketing of the hundreds of Civil War museums,
cemeteries, historic homes, battlefields and related
sites in Virginia, making travel plans to those
destinations easy and convenient.
