What will my support go toward?

In addition to your member benefits, Civil War 150 Council members will guarantee an exciting and informative educational experience for people throughout the United States, including:

  • Museum Exhibition: A major statewide exhibition entitled "America’s Great Turning Point: The Civil War in Virginia" will offer a balanced depiction of Virginia’s participation in the war, and include stories from the homefront and battlefront.
  • CW 150 HistoryMobile: A high-tech interactive mobile museum that will travel to throughout Virginia and beyond, bringing history directly to the people.
  • Educational DVD: A three-hour educational film produced by the Center for Civil War Studies at Virginia Tech that will be distributed free of charge to every school, library and museum in Virginia.
  • The Legacy Project: Document Digitization and Access: A major initiative focused on preserving documentary heritage by identifying Civil War-era materials currently in private hands, scanning and cataloging them, and making them available via the web for research for years to come.
  • Signature Conferences and Law School Symposia: A regular series of conferences, held in cooperation with private and public institutions of higher education, addressing broad political, military, social, economic and constitutional topics related to the Civil War.
  • Sesquicentennial Internet Battlefield Tours: Rare and personalized 'Vodcast' tours of significant battlefields in Virginia by top-notch historians made available to the world through the Internet.
  • Civil War Heritage Tourism: Coordination and marketing of the hundreds of Civil War museums, cemeteries, historic homes, battlefields and related sites in Virginia, making travel plans to those destinations easy and convenient.
